"Here's the thing: I'm a pioneer"
Netroots Nation leaders, another important primary election day, and a faux Angine de Poitrine
PRESENTED BY CRUNCHY FLAMIN’ HOT RED 40
A warm welcome to all the Netroots Nation folks I gently encouraged1 to subscribe! State Rep. Chris Rabb (D-Pa.) was a real star at the climate happy hour:
Here’s a brief look at some of what just a few more of these great people are doing:
The semiquincentennial is being marked by a nationwide mobilization for All of U.S. on June 27th, being organized by leading activists including Anthony Vidal Torres and Nicole Carty. The week before, Kendra Becenti’s BLIS Collective is organizing Reclamation Day on June 20th in New York City.
Andrew Herrera of the Chicago Workers Collaborative is fighting for the passage of House Bill 3762, to provide protections for Illinois workers from extreme heat in the workplace, an increasing danger everywhere from construction sites to restaurant kitchens.
Lauren Windsor and Lisa Graves have been exposing the seamy underbelly of the State Financial Officers Foundation, a far-right coalition of state treasurers financed by conservative dark-money groups and major banks. Windsor has uncovered widespread corruption involving Alaska’s former GOP revenue commissioner Adam Crum, who is running for governor in the nonpartisan August primary to succeed GOP Gov. Mike Dunleavy. Crum secretly pledged $75 million of the state’s rainy day fund to the fracking-powered-AI-bubble vehicle DigitalBridge, and went on a SFOF glacier cruise paid for by fracking-powered-AI-bubble group Saige Consulting before giving a $9 million contract to Saige.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) is recruiting the next cohort of young people to be fellows for Democracy Summer, Raskin’s intensive program of teaching, training, and action for political organizing in key Congressional districts, this year in Alaska, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas. Young people anywhere in the country can also participate virtually.
It’s primary election day in Maine, North Dakota, Nevada, and South Carolina (check out the Hill Heat preview). Five Democratic incumbents and seven Republican incumbents in the House on the ballot today for re-election or higher office. This is making it even harder for the diabolical liar Mike Johnson (R-La., no relation) to manhandle his shambolic GOP majority into doing Trump’s bidding.
Hard as it is to believe, Crunchy Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, Gushers, Fruit Roll-Ups, Takis Fuego, and grape-flavored liquid Kool-Aid have dangerous levels of additives and contaminants.
