“Big banks predict catastrophic warming, with profit potential”

Sorry about the butterflies, though. Also: DOGE is in the kleptocracy phase

PRESENTED BY THE ROCKY ROAD TO KLEPTOCRACY

Corbin Hiar uncovers that increasingly inhuman corporations like Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan are preparing for the increasingly inhuman planet they are creating: “Big banks predict catastrophic warming, with profit potential.”1 Their advice: invest in air conditioners! And Tim McDonnell notes that BlackRock’s Larry Fink dropped any mention of climate risk in favor of energy “pragmatism” in his latest investor newsletter.

Elon Musk’s DOGE has entered the kleptocracy phase.

After invading and trashing the offices of the U.S. Institute of Peace with the assistance of federal agents and D.C. police, the taxpayer-financed crypto-Nazi hackers like USIP “CEONate Cavanaugh are now attempting to gift themselves the private non-profit corporation’s $500 million headquarters. Marisa Kabas is reporting live on today’s court hearing.

Everyone needs to understand what Elon and DOGE are building, an AI driven panopticon that will know everything about you and will be used to ensure compliance with their fascist agenda. They are creating a unified database of everything the federal government has on every single American. 🧵1/

DOGE stooges Stephanie Holmes, who worked in HR for AI huckster Sam Altman, and Katrine Trampe, who worked at the Silicon Valley pressure group TogetherSF, got control of a key federal payroll system managed by the Department of the Interior on behalf of the Departments of Justice, Treasury and Homeland Security, as well as the Air Force, Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. They got in only when Tyler Hassen, an oil executive installed by DOGE at Interior, locked out Interior’s chief information officer Darren Ash and chief information security officer Stan Lowe. Ash and Lowe had refused access, citing the extraordinary security risks for granting unchecked access to this highly sensitive system.

DOGE/Musk preferentially cancelled grants and contracts to recipients in counties that voted for Harris in 2024. Among cancellations with election data available, 92.9% and 86.1% cancelled grants and contracts went to Harris counties, representing 96.6% and 92.4% of total dollar amounts.

Elon Musk’s vote-buying raffle in Wisconsin’s insane Supreme Court election is a matryoshka doll of kleptocratic scams—he handed the novelty checks to GOP operatives, not randomly chosen MAGA cheeseheads. April fools!

But don’t worry, the GOP is dedicated to election integrity on the dairy front:

Republicans in Wisconsin have been silent on the Musk giveaway — but the RNC has warned a group they cannot give ice cream to college students.

As Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) continues his marathon speech on the Senate floor, fired federal workers are conducting a job search today in the Senate office buildings with increased urgency, after Trump’s illegal executive order last week calling for the dismantling of nearly all federal unions.

At 8 pm tonight, the Hands Off! coalition is hosting a mobilizing mass call in preparations for this weekend’s national rallies.

The House Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing this morning on limiting the powers of the federal judiciary with witnesses including Newt Gingrich and Project 2025 co-author Paul Larkin.

A House Oversight subcommittee holds a hearing on the economics of AI, data centers, and power consumption. The Koch-backed Abundance Institute’s AI head Neil Chilson will call for the repeal of the National Environmental Policy Act, limits on judicial injunctions, and accelerated support for fossil-fuel energy projects. Virginia-based data center lobbyist Josh Levi will call for the hobbling of NEPA, limits on judicial injunctions, and accelerated support for fossil-fuel energy projects. Koch network fossil-fuel enthusiast Mark P. Mills will call for rapid deployment of new fracked-gas power plants to fuel data centers, which he calls “the digital cathedrals of our time.” In measured testimony, Democratic witness Tyson Slocum of Public Citizen will point out that the Trump regime’s shambolic policies have a lot more to do with deregulating pollution than supporting the tech industry.

The House Small Business Committee receives testimony on legislation that would allow any regulation to be challenged or blocked on behalf of “small business.” Witnesses include Montana climate denier and stripper-well owner Patrick Montalban and other industry lobbyists. Pro-regulatory small business advocate John Arensmeyer is the Democratic witness.
