Biden: "Make America the world leader in manufacturing and exporting clean energy technologies of the future"

A few days into the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian climatologist Svitlana Krakovska spoke out:

“Human induced climate change and the war on Ukraine have the same roots, fossil fuels, and our dependence on them.”

The calls by climate hawks for a fair clean-energy mobilization to counter Putin’s war grew increasingly strong in the following days, and now the President of the United States has acted decisively.

Moments ago, President Joe Biden announced a ban on Russian oil and called for immediate transformation to a clean economy.

“We're banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy. That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable to U.S. ports, and American people will deal another powerful blow to Putin's war machine.

Biden rightly dismissed the demands of the carbon industry and their pet Republicans to keep drilling and polluting:

Loosening environmental regulations or pulling back clean energy investment won’t lower energy prices for families. But transforming our economy to run on EVs, powered by clean energy will mean that in the future no one has to worry about gas prices.”

He continued:

“That’ll mean tyrants like Putin won’t be able to use fossil fuels as weapons against other nations, and it will make America the world leader in manufacturing and exporting clean energy technologies of the future to countries all around the world. This is the goal we should be racing toward.”

It looks like Biden isn’t afraid of embracing some quirkier ideas to defend our nation and the world we share.
