PRESENTED BY SAND IM SAND
Catch me today at 12:30 pm on Sam Seder’s Majority Report to talk about BAAJA with Emma Vigland!
Then at 1 pm, join Appalachian Voices’ Community Call-In Action Against BAAJA and at 4 pm, America the Beautiful for All’s all-hands BAAJA briefing: What the Senate Permitting Bill Means for Our Land, Water, Wildlife, and Communities.
Quickly, because there’s a lot happening - at 10 am, Brian Merchant, Molly White, Dave Karpf, and Sophie Song started talking AI and the elections. Stuff they’re covering:
The vainglorious Trump Arch-sniper-drone-fortress is getting rubberstamped tonight, after an online meeting where Trump’s lackeys will ignore hours of angry comments criticizing it. It’s unclear if the judge in the various suits against the Arch will stop the immediate plans to fence in the arch and bring in construction crews.
The 400+-page BAAJA managers’ amendment is expected to drop Sunday, with plenty of time for public review and comment before the Senate starts voting on Monday. The public-utility trade associations have jumped on the BAAJA Bulldozer. The Coalition of Large Tribes—which have large oil and gas and other industrial interests—is in negotiations with BAAJA drafters for minor edits to the Endangered Species Act-stripping section and a rewrite of Title III, primarily on Tribal sovereignty concerns.
Don’t worry about the AI accelerationists—the White House Energy Dominance Council, the American Petroleum Institute, and the Information Technology Industry Council are also submitting their edits.
Tell Congress: No Dirty Data Center Deal!
On Saturday, I’m headed to Crooked Con to spread the No Dirty Data Center Deal gospel and let everyone there know about the 106Strong rally at the Capitol against the first BAAJA Senate vote on Monday.
Hoping this won’t be ironic: I pre-ordered Vaporware today!
