Schumer Announces His Plan To Murder the Democratic Party

It will be a killing spree: Article One of the Constitution another intended victim

Today’s post is dedicated to environmental justice lion Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), in memoriam. Please read the appreciation written and painted by Pablo Manríquez. No joke sponsors today.

"Schumer tells me Republicans might try to jam Democrats again in September, but thinks Trump will be less popular then and Republican appropriators might be more willing to stand up to him. He said they refused to do so now."

Democracy dies in dorkness.

Last night, Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced his plan to violently murder the Democratic Party in broad daylight. He explained in gruesome detail his plot to kill the filibuster of the Musk coup resolution (H.R. 1968), thereby disemboweling Article One of the Constitution and assisting in the Trump-Musk decapitation of American democracy.

The cloture vote will take place in the U.S. Capitol some time this afternoon.1

Schumer can’t pull off his metaphorical rampage without the assistance of six other Democrats. He has the guaranteed support of Sens. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) and DSCC chair Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), who screamed at her colleagues behind closed doors about her support for Schumer’s plans.

Anyone in Washington D.C. today should join Free DC in Hart atrium today at 10 am. Bring your kids. Here’s the link for full info for DC residents.

And if you’re not in Washington D.C., make some calls to stop these senators from sending the Democratic Party the way of the Whigs:

Democratic leadership who have not taken a public position, but will likely back Schumer:

  • Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) — 202-224-2152

  • SPC Chair Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) — 202-224-3244

  • DDCS Brian Schatz (Hawaii) — 202-224-3934

  • Outreach Chair Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.) — 202-224-3542

Leaning yes:

  • Angus King (Maine) — 202-224-5344

  • Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.) — 202-224-2841

  • Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.) — 202-224-2921

Unknown:

  • Maggie Hassan (N.H.) — 202-224-3324

  • Gary Peters (Mich.) — 202-224-6221

  • Jacky Rosen (Nev.) — 202-224-6244

Leaning no:

  • Michael Bennet (Colo.) — 202-224-5852

  • Lisa Blunt Rochester (Del.) — 202-224-2441

  • Martin Heinrich (N.M.) — 202-224-5521

  • Ben Ray Lujan (N.M.) — 202-224-6621

  • Raphael Warnock (Ga.) — 202-224-3643

Confirmed yes on cloture, call to harangue:

  • Minority Loser Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) — 202-224-6542

  • DSCC Chair Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) — 202-224-4451

  • John Fetterman (Pa.) — 202-224-4254

WHAT TO SAY

  • Hello there. My name is [your name], I’m a resident of [your state] and I’m calling to ask the Senator to VOTE NO on cloture and VOTE NO on the House-passed Continuing Resolution. This bill is a devastating ratification of the Elon Musk coup and I’m calling to ask you to VOTE NO ON CLOTURE.”

  • Share your personal connection to this issue and why it’s important enough to you that you’re calling them today.

  • The government shutdown has been underway since January 20 and will spread whether the Senator votes yes or no on H.R. 1968. The members of AFGE, the federal workers’ union, sent the Senator a letter on Wednesday saying that. AFGE wants the Senator to vote no on cloture.”

  • I know Trump and Republicans are to blame if there is a shutdown, and so does the American people. Polls show that the majority of American people will blame Trump and Republicans for a shutdown.”

  • House Democrats stood together and voted against the bill, and are ready to vote today for Sen. Patty Murray’s clean, 4-week funding bill. House Democrats in swing districts took the tough vote because they believe in fighting for American democracy. The Senator needs to stand with Democrats.”

  • The House-passed bill would result in an immediate $1 billion cut to DC’s public safety, education, and other essential services. The District’s most critical government services, including teachers, firefighters, and other first responders would be furloughed. A billion-dollar cut to DC’s budget halfway through the fiscal year would have a devastating impact on DC’s ability to provide essential services that residents rely on every day.”

“Will the Senator VOTE NO on cloture and the House-passed Continuing Resolution?”

Bonjour Beau merle.

Hill Heat isn’t powered by fossil-fuel greenwashing cash. It’s powered by readers like you:

1  The Senate will consider Stephen Feinberg for Deputy Secretary of Defense in the morning, and the vote on cloture for the defunding bill will take place no earlier than 1:30 pm, probably around 2 or 3 pm, unless any Democratic Senator is brave enough to throw sand in the gears.

Starting at noon, there’s a conveniently timed protest on the National Mall organized by supporters of the Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment and U.S. veterans against the coup.
